  Feb. 2004: "Salsa Loca: Amor Con Amor"

The well known German Salsa critic, Rob Lücking alias DJ Zorro, listened to the Salsa Loca mini CD and says he was amazed!

The mini CD became the CD of the month again - a repeat performance on www.salsa.de - and was given top marks in the review, scoring four and five out of five "congas" in the four review categories.

The review can be read on one of the most popular German Salsa portals, www.salsaholic.de.

  Feb. 2004: "Salsa Loca - Amor Con Amor"

By February 2004 the rumours about Salsa Loca had reached international ears. The mini CD was reviewed and selected as CD of the month on the German Salsa portal www.salsa.de. Even though the CD is not a full CD it was named 'Ein muss' (A must!).

The Salsa critic, Michael Peters, is one of Berlin and Germany's leading Salsa critics as well as a highly popular Salsa DJ. The CD review can be found on his own site, www.dj-michael.de as well.

The long awaited first cd from Salsa Loca arrived Dec. 2003.
The Maxi CD with 3 original tracks has just been reviewed at Denmark's leading Salsa portal, HiFiSalsa.

The fact that all the songs can be downloaded for free from the Music page at this web site and in all the major multi media formats (Mp3, Windows Media, Real Audio and the open source format Ogg Vorbis) has resultet in Bo Kristensen writing this English news flash for the international edition of HiFiSalsa.

  Dec. 2003: "Gedigen salsa"

The first of several reviews of the first Salsa Loca CD release came from the Danish band portal soundvenue.com. The critic Peter Brandorff gave the Salsa Loca mini CD four out of a possible six points.

    March 2003: "Salsa: the best lubricant for frozen hips"
(a report from a Salsa event in Esbjerg as seen in Jydske Vestkysten)

Salsa Loca visited Saturday March 29 for the first time Tobakken in Esbjerg.
Amongst the dancers were Annelene Vestergaard and Lotte Lambæk from the local newspaper, Jydske Vestkysten. Their visit resulted on Monday March 31 in an article in the newspaper.

  Nov. 2003: Nominated at the Danish World Awards 2003

For the second year running, the Danish World Music Association and the World Music magazine Djembe staged the popular award event where prizes for contributions to the Danish World music scene are handed out. The event took place on Nov. 15 2003 at the leading Copenhagen Salsa venue, Sabor Latino.

Salsa Loca is thrilled to be nominated in two of the three categories:

  • Årets Specialpris goes to a person, a venue or a band that has made a notable contribution to the Danish World music scene. Salsa Loca was the only Salsa act amongst the nominees this year.

  • Djembe-prisen (the Djembe Prize) is the readers' prize. The relevant issue of the magazine Djembe came with a compilation CD comprising 16 tracks by Danish World music acts all of whom were nominated beforehand. Salsa Loca was one of only two Salsa acts to be nominated for the Djembe Prize 2003.

  Feb. 2003: "The best Salsaband in Denmark!"
(Internet poll at HiFiSalsa)

In January and February 2003 the most influential Danish Salsa portal, HiFiSalsa, hosted an Internet poll with the title 'The best Salsaband in Denmark?'.
Salsa Loca was one of seven Danish Salsa bands nominated, and came first with an overwhelming 42 per cent of votes.

    Nov. 2001: Signe Asmussen's Classical Debut
(concert reviews from Berlingske Tidende and Politiken)

Few singers are blessed with the ability to sing both Classical and Popular music equally convincingly. One of these is our vocalist, Signe Asmussen.

In November 2001 Signe graduated from the Royal Danish Conservatoire's soloist class - an event that always culminates in a Debut concert in the presence of critics from the major dailies, in this case Berlingske Tidende and Politiken, whose reviews can be seen here.



  Aug. 2002: The Salsa Dancers at the summer concert in the Tivoli Gardens 2002

In August 2002 Salsa Loca played a show at Plænen in Tivoli for the third year in a row. With them on stage were eight of the country's best Salsa dancers. You can meet them here as they were presented before the concert in 2002.

    Aug. 2000: With Antonio Petz on a Salsa Tour to Berlin

In August 2000, a group of Salsa freaks travelled to Berlin in a bus for a weekend of non-stop Salsa dancing - an excursion that has become a Danish regular late summer Salsa tradition. Along for the ride was our very own Tonny Pedersen (maracas), who captured with his long lens something of what it means to be a Salsero on the loose in a foreign city. See the pix here.
